Electric Kiln Information for Art Teachers

Very often when we are in college, Art teachers get the
broad overview of various Art forms and processes,
and don't get the specific knowledge we need to do
the job right. Ceramics is one area where this happens
frequently. As the moderator of ArtsEducators, a discussion
group for K-12 Art Teachers, I have found that new Art teachers
often have questions about electric kilns, because they
have not worked with them before.

I have been a professional potter
for several years.
The information posted here is not meant to be all-inclusive,
nor is it a substitute for READING THE MANUAL that comes
with your kiln. If it is possible, you should find a potter in your area who is willing to show you how to load and fire an electric kiln.
If you don't know a potter yourself, email me and I will help you find a potter local to you.

I hope that you will find this information useful.
If you have further questions, let me know.
This is a work in progress; more info will be added later.
